How to find and select the right Professional Remodeler – “The 8 Questions”
Q # 1 What differentiates them from their peers? Is the firm reputable? Have you checked their reviews on Google and Houzz? You should also check reviews for new services AND for warranty work – 3-5 years later. If they have a less than stellar review, how did the owner respond? Was it a fair review?
Q #2 Do they have a place of business? What are their hours? Can you see examples of their place of business? If there is no real place of business, does the Remodeler work out of his/her home?
Q #3 Do they have “certified” designers and remodelers on staff? What are their credentials and from whom? How many of their staff have a designation or certification? Are they committed to continuing education?
Q #4 Do they have a process methodology to deliver their services? Is it written down for you to see and interact with? How do they communicate with you the Homeowner?
Q #5 What tools and technologies do they use to manage their business processes? What is their CRM tool? How do they communicate with Homeowners? Are these tools web based and are customers allowed to access them?
Q #6 What is their warranty period for labor and materials? What about structural warranties? Do they follow the Texas Association of Builders Performance Guidelines?
Q #7 Are they members of the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), the Texas Association of Builders (TAB), the local Dallas Builders Association (DBA) and the National Kitchen & Bath Association (NKBA)? Are they involved with either of these Associations? If so, how? Have they ever won any of the awards these local and national associations offer?
Q #8 Do they give back to their communities? If so, to whom? If not, why?
